Animal Crossing New Leaf Isabelle Nendoroid Review

I got the adorable Isabelle Nendoroid figure from Hans for my birthday last year. She is my first Nendoroid, but definitely not my last.

She comes with three different faces and a bunch of accessories. My favorite accessories are the music notes and my favorite face is the super happy one. She even has a little bell in her hair!

She is well-made, like all official Nenoroids. All of the pieces fit together perfectly and the paint looks great. I don’t have any complaints at all about this Isabelle figure. She is just too adorable!

There are two different versions of Isabelle available: the regular summer version that I have and the winter version. I think the one I have has the cuter faces and accessories. I think the winter version also only has two faces, as opposed to three.

Majora’s Mask Limited Edition Skull Kid Figure Review

Skull Kid Majora's Mask Special Edition Figure

After missing the preorder for the limited edition of Majora’s Mask 3D, I decided to hold off on buying the game just in case I managed to find the limited edition somewhere. I wanted to wait to play it until I got a new 3DS XL for the bigger screen anyway.

As luck would have it, I found the limited edition of Majora’s Mask 3D at the Cleveland Classic Console and Arcade Gaming Show in July. I paid much less than eBay sellers were charging, though it still set me back more than the original retail price. My husband also managed to get the Majora’s Mask limited edition New 3DS XL from the same scalper seller.

The figure isn’t as amazing as I expected. The plastic feels a bit cheap. Mine also had a little scuff on the mask. The rest of the paint looks fine, though.

Compared to other figures I’ve gotten with limited edition games, this one is nothing special. It’s still cool to have a figure of Skull Kid, however. It’s worth having if you’re a hardcore Zelda fan. If you’re just looking for a cool collectible figure, you might want to pass.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D looks much better than the N64 original, though if you’re like me, you probably won’t notice unless you’ve recently played the N64 version. I have a habit of remembering older games as looking better than they actually did. The added 3D effects are always a nice bonus as well.

Cynthia Pokemon Center Nendoroid Review

I have so many figures in my ever expanding collection, I might as well start reviewing some of them on my blog. I just got the Pokemon Center Cynthia Nendoroid from Good Smile. I missed out on the Red Nendoroid, so made sure to get Cynthia before she got too hard to find. Since she is one of the few Nendoroids available in the United States, I just waited for the US version. I bought her from the Pokemon Center on Amazon instead of from the Pokemon Center website for the free two day Prime shipping.

She looks awesome, but doesn’t have as many parts and accessories as most other Nendoroids. She has two faces, a couple extra arms, and one extra leg. The only accessory she comes with to hold is a Pokeball, but she does come with her Garchomp, which more than makes up for the lack of other accessories. It would have been nice if she had one more face, but I’ll probably use the default open-eyed face most of the time anyway.

Garchomp’s arms, legs, and head move to allow him to be posed in different ways. He doesn’t have any extra parts, however. I think it would have been cool if he had an extra head with a different facial expression (maybe a closed mouth), but I guess since he’s considered an accessory for this figure, that might be asking a bit too much.

The paint applications on both figures look great. I didn’t notice any major issues with the paint on either figure. The only slight problem I noticed so far with either figures is that Garchomp’s arm fall off easily when trying to pose him.

The box seems cheaper than the other Nendoroids I have because it lacks a clear plastic window. I’m not sure if that is just how the American versions are made or not, of if it is just this particular figure.

All in all, Cynthia is a worthwhile figure to add to your collection. Just make sure to get her before you’re forced to pay scalper prices! I will most likely get the N Nendoroid when he comes to the US too. I’m still holding out hope that they will rerelease Red due to his popularity. For future Pokemon Nendoroid releases, I’m hoping for Misty, Gym Leader Erika, and Gym Leader Sabrina. Misty with an extra mermaid body would be amazing!

Ditto Plush

I got bored and made a Ditto plush doll yesterday. He only took about an hour or so to make. I used a pink fleece material for the body, purple buttons for eyes (I didn’t have black), and a thin black rope for the mouth. He is stuffed with Poly-Fil stuffing.

I made the pattern by drawing the basic shape of Ditto onto regular computer paper (while looking at Ditto’s entry in the Pokedex 3D Pro app on 3DS). I also cut a vaguely oval-shaped piece of paper to make the base, then matched it up to the main pattern pieces and cut it down until it was the perfect size. I cut out two Ditto-shaped pieces of fleece and one oval piece for the base. I sewed the eyes and original mouth onto one body piece before sewing them all together.

I originally made the mouth out of pink ribbon, but didn’t like how it looked. I saw that I had some black rope that might look better as a mouth, so I took a seam-ripper and removed the ribbon, then sewed the rope onto the plushie by hand.

Dinosauring: A Webcomic About Dinosaurs

Hey everyone! I just wanted to use this post to pimp my webcomic again for any new readers who haven’t checked it out yet. Dinosauring is a weekly webcomic that I started last December. It follows the lives of a heard of Stegosauruses and their other dinosaur friends. It is filled with dinosaur humor, gaming jokes, pop culture references, and fun for all ages! Stardust and Ash: A Collection of Short Stories

I just published a collection of short stories and poetry entitled Stardust and Ash. It is available from Amazon and will be available from other major eBook retailers soon.

Stardust and Ash is a collection of seven science fiction short stories and eight poems, each tied together by a theme of tragedy, loss, and accepting our own mortality. Each story shows the darker side of the human condition. Whether planted firmly on Earth or residing in the far-flung corners of our galaxy; whether living in the present day or in the distant future, the human experience remains much the same. Though we can experience much joy in life, we also must experience much sorrow and pain. The stories in this collection illustrate the latter. Don’t expect a happily ever after from the stories collected in Stardust and Ash.

These stories and poems were written between 2009 and 2015 and are collected for the first time in this single digital edition.

The Android – An eccentric millionaire has his body cryonically frozen when he dies, in hopes that he can be revived at some point in the future. He wakes up in the future with his consciousness transferred into the body of an android.

The Escapee – In the midst of an alien attack, one crew member manages to escape in an emergency escape pod, leaving behind the rest of the crew. No one comes for help, and she is stuck alone drifting through space in the escape pod for months.

The Garbage Collector – In the future, Earth begins disposing of its waste via a black hole. The unthinkable happens to one garbage man while on duty.

The Satellite – The Satellite is the first manned spacecraft to be sent to Mars. Commander Martin Stone describes what he is seeing above the Cydonia region of Mars.

The Colonist – A man named Blake is selected to become one of the first people to colonize Mars. Though his ex-girlfriend begs him to stay, he can’t wait to leave behind a planet that has nothing to offer him.

Abduction – After losing control of their craft, one of the members of a surveillance mission wakes up on an alien operating table, surrounded by strange beings. She is helpless to escape.

Dust and Ash – Two lovers spend their final moments on Earth together as they await a nuclear explosion.

Groot Mii QR Code

After I got my New 3DS XL, I decided to use my old 3DS to give myself more Streetpasses. I made a Mii of Groot for that 3DS’s Streetpass. I haven’t put Groot into Tomodachi Life or Smash Bros yet, but he does have his own Pokemon Rumble World game save (partially to farm for Poké Diamond).

Feel free to scan Groot into your 3DS. You can use him in Tomodachi Life, Super Smash Brothers, or any other games that use Miis.

Kanto Pokedex New 3DS XL

I was originally going to wait and see if either a pink New Nintendo 3DS XL or a limited edition that I actually like came out to upgrade, but then I found these awesome decals to turn a red 3DS XL into a Pokedex and realized that there was probably never going to be a 3DS design that is this awesome!

Initially I was hesitant to get an XL, and was hoping that the smaller New 3D would come out in the US so I could try them both out before buying. Being a female, I have limited pocket space and I can already barely fit the smaller 3DS in my pocket (small pockets are a scam to also sell us purses, I swear!) and I was afraid that games would look too blurry being stretched out on the bigger screen.

I’ve had my New Nintendo 3DS XL for about a week now, and I can honestly say, it’s difficult to go back to playing on the smaller screen. Games are noticeably blurrier, but I got used to it pretty quickly. The only time I really notice it is when I check the Streetpasses on the old one and then switch back to the new one (I kept my old launch 3DS, transferred everything to the new one, and put a new Mii on the old one to get extra Streetpasses).

So far, I haven’t really used the little analog nub, other than briefly in Majora’s Mask, so I can’t comment on how useful it really is.

The head tracking for the 3D effect works pretty well. Sometimes it can still get funky though if I am holding the 3DS at a weird angle, but it is still a big improvement. The 3D effects look better on the bigger screen as well.

This decal makes it the next best thing to an actual limited edition Kanto Pokedex 3DS. I don’t think that I will ever see an actual special edition 3DS that is as awesome as this!

I also made a felt case for it to keep it from getting scratched in my purse. I think my Pokeball 3DS pouch matches my Pokedex 3DS quite nicely.

Splatoon Inkling Girl Super Smash Bros QR Code

Splatoon Inkling and Bowser - Smash Bros

Are you looking for an Inkling Mii QR code to use with your Splatoon costume pack in Smash Bros? Look no further! I made an Inkling girl Mii character that you may add to your game as a Mii Fighter.

I made her while looking at my Inkling Girl amiibo. Unlike the mii pictures I saw in the marketing pictures for the new Super Smash Bros DLC, I included the black part between the eyes to make her look more like the actual characters in Splatoon. It’s the next best thing to getting actual Splatoon characters in Smash!

Just scan the QR code into Mii Maker and import her into Super Smash Brothers on your 3DS or Wii U as a Mii Fighter character. The Mii has the long hair that I thought l thought looked closest to to the tentacle hair of the actual Splatoon inkling girl character, but it doesn’t matter since she is meant to be used with the Splatoon DLC outfit in Smash Bros. I believe I set her favorite color to orange.

Who’s excited for the big Splatoon update next month? I’m still hoping we get the rumored Squid Girl DLC in the United States!

Cleveland Museum of Natural History Wedding

I got married about a month ago, on June 27th! The ceremony and reception took place at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History in the dinosaur room.

These are our wedding bands. They have triforce and Celtic knot design on the outside and “I choose you!” engraved on the inside. We aren’t dorks at all… Our wedding programs and invitations had a pink Yoshi with a wedding veil and a blue Yoshi with a top hat on them. We got them on Etsy (which is also where I got my wedding dress and veil).

To match the dinosaur theme, I made Pokemon dinosaur cake toppers to sit on the giant cupcake at the top of our cupcake tower. I got a miniature Tyrunt and Amaura from Amazon. I made a top hat and bow tie to make Tyrunt look dapper. I made a veil for Amaura from a sample of the same pink material that my veil was made of and added some adhesive jewels. The mini wedding cake was a last minute addition that we found at the craft store.

Here’s me getting ready. I got pink glasses specifically to match my pink wedding dress and veil, though I ended up liking them better than my other ones, so I’ve switched to wearing them on a daily basis.

I had a beautiful bouquet of cascading pink roses! (Sorry my favorite flower is one of the most expensive ones, Hans! But at least I prefer pretty pink stones to plain old diamonds!) Made by Puffer’s Floral.
